Summary

As a Supplemental Instruction leader, my experience in the COOP 3000 course was incredibly enriching and impactful. The course focused on developing professional skills and understanding workplace etiquette and culture within a second professional setting. Throughout the course, I had the opportunity to apply professional behaviors, refine my existing skills, and set new professional goals. One of the key takeaways from the course was the importance of adapting to different workplace cultures and environments as I switched from first-year biology to first-year chemistry. By immersing myself in a new professional setting, I was able to gain a nuanced understanding of workplace dynamics and communication styles. This experience not only enhanced my ability to navigate diverse work environments but also broadened my perspective on professional development.

By drawing from my second professional experience, I was able to compare and reassess my aptitudes, strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and values as they relate to professional development. This self-reflection process was instrumental in helping me identify areas for growth and set goals for my future career aspirations.

Overall, the COOP 3000 course had a profound impact on me as a Supplemental Instruction leader. It equipped me with practical skills, enhanced my understanding of workplace dynamics, and challenged me to reflect on my professional growth. This experience has not only prepared me for future career opportunities but has also inspired me to continue seeking opportunities for personal and professional development.
